The Ministry of Finance has developed a bill on amendments to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, the essence of which boils down to the introduction of new taxes on companies and citizens.
As the Kommersant newspaper specifies, the financial department decided to add five new taxes, the corresponding bill has already been published and has come to the disposal of journalists.
In particular, the Ministry of Finance advocated the introduction of the so-called environmental tax, utilization tax, telecom operator tax, hotel tax and road user tax. Sources emphasize that the department allegedly developed this bill for about one year.
It is worth noting that officials have repeatedly stated the need to increase fiscal pressure on citizens in the context of the country’s growing economic isolation and loss of access to external funding sources.
In parallel, the state began to identify citizens with informal jobs in order to impose taxes on them to replenish the treasury. According to the Federal Tax Service, in mid-March as self-employed already 40 thousand citizens have registered.
However, the overwhelming majority of the population is still suspicious of this innovation and is in no hurry to register with the tax authorities.
